| Voici une chronique poster le 19 février, par Punktastic à propos d nouvel album "Seek out your foes..."....certe en anglais, mais terriblement encourageante pour le groupe...OK< let's get down to business. This is the best record Phinius Gage have ever written - by a distance - and is one of the best UK punk rock records released this year. It's fast, frenetic, melodic...all that good stuff. It's basically everything the band have done previously but better. And believe me, if the outro guitar solo on the album's title track doesn't make you giggle like a schoolgirl then you're reading the wrong website. If you're yet to come across the delights of Phinius Gage, they're a Brighton-based melodic hardcore-cross-skate punk band that mix the best bits of a Rise Against with the best bits of a Lagwagon, all done with strong British accents. Previously the band wrote consistently good songs and put out good albums, but this takes things up a notch on every level. It's faster, more melodic and includes some amazing metal-influenced guitar solos. the great songs outweigh the good ones - don't even start looking for a bad song here kids - with 'Stop Looking Up' and 'Seek Out Your Foes' possibly the best two PG songs ever written. Ade's vocals sound a little Dexter Holland-esque at times too. The production is better than ever, the riffs sound hard and heavy and overall this is just a fantastic record from start to finish. I consider Phinius Gage to be friends. They're one of those bands that have supported Punktastic from day one and it's fantastic to see a band develop and mature. This is their crowning glory - a record that shows the UK can do melodic punk rock as well as anyone. Et au passage voici le version britannique de l'album...ces anglais il faut toujours qu'ils se démarquent... | |

Brighton quartet have been plugging away on the toilet circuit, amassing an ever-growing number of fans. 'Seek Out Your Foes…' sees them move away from their humble, Pennywise-worshipping beginnings and develop a far more complex and all-encompassing sound that should win them a few more. Support British punk rock and pick this up! 7/10

| Nouvelle chronique, posté par mike cette aprés-midi en bulletin myspace....
Dealing in a brand of melodic hardcore with broad hints of skate punk that are usually far more associated with the So-Cal scene rather than that of the south of England, thanks in no small part to Seek Out Your Foes, all signs point to Phinius Gage taking on the Americans at their own game and coming out on top. With 400 shows already in their locker since their inception back in 2003, the hardworking Brighton-based quartet have long since made a name for themselves on the UK underground scene.
'Battered And Bruised' launches out of the blocks with trademark breakneck speed, with its frantic drums guiding the listener along to its killer sing along chorus, and in the process encapsulates everything Phinius Gage are all about. Granted, they may not exactly be covering new territory, but rarely are the worlds of catchy skate punk melodies and hardcore married so well. Elsewhere, 'Mary F**king Kelly' speeds along at 100mph before stopping to a standstill to let its towering chorus make an appearance, 'Behind Darkness You've No Light' forgoes such subtleties as it joyously bounds along relentlessly until the glorious gang vocals of 'My Eyes Bled Colours' bring things to a close in consummate fashion.
Hardcore may well have stagnated somewhat over the past few years, scene infighting, posturing and name calling may have come to the forefront, but with its unwavering quality from start to finish, Seek Out Your Foes ensures that Phinius Gage are one band that purists will most definitely hold dear to their hearts.

| Encore mieux...Matt et Mike viennent de me dire que cette chronique venait du plus gros magazine de Royaume Uni...je reprend leur mot...
Matt: "Yeah we're all really pleased with the review - Kerrang is the biggest music magazine in the UK, which is great - and after all our problems with the van on the last tour it's nice to have some good news! "
Mike: "oh yes, its good news...kerrang is the biggest magazine in the uk... "

Phinius Gage made a name for themselves on the live music scene and built up such a following that their debut album 'The Feeling Something's Wrong' sold out, now the band return with their second album 'Seek Out Your Foes'.
These Brighton lads have come a long way since I saw them supporting Uncle Brian at the Joiners a few years ago, they've climbed and fought their way to the top of the UK punk rock scene. The band are known for their great live performances and after the success of 'The Feeling Something's Wrong' this follow up has a lot to live up to. Thankfully it does, and is bound to impress their army of fans and win them some new ones. The musicianship on 'Seek Out Your Foes' is great, Phinius Gage are obviously four very talented people and can really hold their own, these boys are destined to become punk rock heroes.

Phinius Gage - Seek Out Your FoesBy Miles Hackett One the UK's hardest working punk quartets Phinius Gage already have a couple of acclaimed albums under their belts and they have really raised the bar with their third release 'Seek Out Your Foes..'. Razor sharp riffing and a pounding rhythm section combine for a venomous assault upon the listener. Part Pennywise, part Anti-Flag and a smattering of raging old school punk sensibilities born of the likes of Broken Bones are thrown into the mix and unleash savage tracks like 'Mary Fucking Kelly' and their anger at apathy toward the UK scene in 'Battered and Bruised'. With a recording that finally gives the band the same buzzsaw depth they expel live 'Seek Out Your Foes..' is their finest hour and if their is any justice in this world people will sit up and take notice.

| Phinius Gage Written by Rock Girl Monday, 12 March 2007
Phinius GageAlbum: Seek Out Your Foes And Make Them Sorry Released: 19 March 2007 Label: Small Town Records
All skate punk freaks, listen up. Phinius Gage step it up a notch on their third album, “Seek Out Your Foes…” This instantly likeable album is guaranteed to be at the top of your play list for the foreseeable future.
The Brighton four-piece are putting their Southern Californian rivals to shame with a collection of 200-mph punk tunes. Good punk rock hasn’t had an English accent for a while. The SoCal scene must be feeling jealous.
Title track “Seek Out Your Foes” is contender for best song with its genius classic metal riffs that will no doubt find you drawn to your bedroom mirror practising your best air guitar.
It gets even faster and louder on “Behind Darkness You Have No Light.” They’ve got a huge amount of angst to get out in just over two minutes.
The longest song on the album at 4:22 is “Young And The Restless.” It starts a brief slow down with its piano outtro. This vibe continues into the next track “Provocation Song” which provides two minutes to catch your breath with an interlude of melodic acoustic guitar. This shouldn’t work on an album this fast, but it does and proves they’ve got the talent to back up the attitude.
It would seem Phinius Gage’s middle fingers are erect and pointed towards skinny jean wearing indie-Cindy types everywhere. Being anti-social has never been so fun. Welcome home punk rock.
